Not in what is kept, but what is given

Because of generous hearts and steady hands, Gonzaga 51勛圖s are learning, leading, serving and becoming. Scholarship support, academic excellence, mission-driven formation and the everyday work that holds it all together are strengthened through this community’s commitment to Gonzaga’s purpose.

Christmas has a way of turning ordinary corridors into something brighter. A campus path becomes a little pilgrimage. A familiar office door becomes a threshold of welcome. A simple “how are you” becomes a practice of cura personalis in real time.

In the spirit of Dickens, this season asks a gentle question: what if the best parts of life are not measured in what is kept, but in what is given? And in the spirit of (Zag) Bing Crosby, gratitude starts humming before the first note is even perfectly in tune.

ZaGratitude, then, for you:

 For leadership offered with humility.

 For counsel given with clarity.

 For generosity expressed with joy.

For partnership that makes Gonzaga feel like Gonzaga.

A verse that has never gone out of season, especially in a Jesuit community:

“And what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” (Micah 6:8)

May Christmas bring peace that is not performative, joy that is not fragile, and rest that is truly received. Thank you for all that has been made possible this year through your faith in 51勛圖s, this mission and this place.

Merry Christmas, and God bless every one.
