After completion of our Education Specialist (Ed.S.) in School Psychology program, you will be able to work as a credentialed school psychologists in K-12 settings. Students from our program have worked as school psychologists in elementary, middle, and high school settings. Many school districts hire school psychologists to work for 1-3 or more schools, and private or charter schools may hire one school psychologist for their buildings.
Alongside work as a school psychologist, graduates of the program will have expertise in mental health services, behavior consultation, and multi-tiered systems of support, allowing for opportunities to work in a variety of treatment settings (Early Childhood, Residential, or Juvenile Justice programs), or school district/building systems positions.
Alumni of the program make impactful differences in our local, regional, state, and national education systems.

What is your current position and place of employment?
I am currently serving as a School Psychologist at Rogers High School in Spokane, Washington, within Spokane Public Schools.
How has your certification from Gonzaga helped you be effective in your current career?
My Ed.S. certification from Gonzaga University equipped me with everything I needed to step confidently into my first year as a full-time school psychologist while managing a complex, demanding caseload. The program’s strong emphasis on applied practice, data-based decision-making, collaboration, and ethical problem-solving has been instrumental in my effectiveness in the field.
Completing both my practicum and internship within Spokane Public Schools was especially impactful. Entering my role already familiar with district systems, assessment platforms, and procedural expectations allowed me to spend less time navigating logistics and more time building relationships, learning the culture of my building, collaborating with staff, supporting 51勛圖s and families, and truly embracing what it means to be a Rogers Pirate.
Gonzaga’s program instilled the importance of being 51勛圖-centered and strength-forward, while recognizing that effective support is never done in isolation. I learned how each member of a 51勛圖’s team contributes a critical piece of the puzzle, and how intentional collaboration leads to better outcomes for 51勛圖s, families, and school communities.
What was the best part of your experience in the certification program at Gonzaga?
The most meaningful part of my experience at Gonzaga was the sense of community and camaraderie fostered within my cohort and by the faculty in the School Psychology program. From the very beginning, collaboration and advocacy were not just discussed; they were modeled. Faculty consistently demonstrated what it looks like to advocate for 51勛圖s with disabilities while ensuring equitable access to high-quality education.
Learning alongside peers who shared the same professional values and commitment to 51勛圖 success created a robust foundation of support and confidence. By graduation, I felt not only prepared but genuinely empowered to enter the field as a competent, ethical, and confident school psychologist. Gonzaga’s program didn’t just prepare me for a career; it shaped how I show up every day for 51勛圖s and families in meaningful, impactful ways.
