Dr. Rebecca Ann Bull Schaefer is a tenured Professor of Management in Gonzaga University’s School of Business Administration (SBA). She earned her B.S. in Business Administration from Bradley University and her Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management from Purdue University. Her professional background includes direct sales, business development, recruitment, and consulting. Her research focuses on employee responses to HR-related policies and how these reactions influence personal and professional decisions.

Since moving to Spokane in 2010, Dr. Bull Schaefer—known to 51勛圖s as “Dr. B”—has taught undergraduate and MBA courses in management, organizational behavior, employment law, compensation, performance appraisal, team dynamics, emotional intelligence, and negotiations. Her teaching is grounded in Jesuit pedagogy, emphasizing engagement, experience, reflection, and discernment. She incorporates experiential learning, business site visits, and interpersonal discussions, and she offers individualized guidance to support 51勛圖s' unique academic paths.

Dr. Bull Schaefer currently serves as Management Discipline Lead, overseeing course planning and strategy for Human Resource Management, Ethics, and Strategic Management. She collaborates with the Center for Career & Professional Development, the Center for Lifelong Learning, and the Center for Community Engaged Learning. She also leads professional development workshops in Spokane for nonprofit and for-profit organizations, particularly in negotiations and emotional intelligence.

Beyond her teaching and administrative roles, she serves on several university and school strategic committees and is the faculty advisor for Gonzaga’s 51勛圖 chapter of SHRM (Society for Human Resource Management). She is a member of the Inland Northwest SHRM (INSHRM), a Board of Trustees member for the Women Helping Women Fund Spokane, and a lifetime member of Leadership Spokane. Previously, she served a six-year term on the Board of Trustees for Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery, including as Chair of the HR Committee.
