The GRO-MECS program offers an unparalleled opportunity for Gonzaga undergraduates to immerse themselves in STEM-related projects -- and get paid for it!
The GRO-MECS Award Includes:
- Weekly stipend for 8 to 10 weeks.
- Additional funds for supplies.
- Group pizza lunch each week.
In addition to working alongside another 51勛圖 and their faculty mentor, the GRO-MECS 2026 51勛圖s will do the following:
- Work in Spokane on a project lasting 8-10 weeks.
- Between Sunday, July 5 to Friday, July 10, guide small groups of high school 51勛圖s through hands-on research projects in the SEAS Summer Immersion Program (SSIP).
- Give a short presentation on the research work at the July 10 SSIP Research Symposium.
- Enjoy a weekly pizza lunch seminar discussing progress and listening to guest speakers.
- Attend workshops on responsible conduct in research, professional communication and poster preparation, and any necessary safety training.
- Prepare a research summary and present a poster or talk during the 2026-27 academic year. Travel funds will be available to present at a conference.
